Rolls Royce - Glasgow
Project Ace, Rolls Royce - Production Area, Glasgow
Rolls-Royce Group plc is the world's third largest aircraft engine maker and the 16th largest defence contractor. It also has major businesses in the marine propulsion and energy sectors.
The brief
Jet Environmental was awarded the contract to supply six air induction systems to provide heating and ventilation for the company's £85m state of the art factory at Inchinnan, near Glasgow.
The solution
The development comprised stators areas and the forge area. The stator areas were served by four Jet Environmantal air induction systems while two systems served the forge area.
The AHUs for all systems were central to the building and installed external to the factory areas on a low level roof above an area known as ‘the street’. The AHUs were designed to provide heating, maintain an internal temperature of 21°C during the winter, and provide fresh air to offset the process extract systems.
We worked closely with AMEC and services consultant, DSSR to arrive at a cost- effective scheme which met Rolls Royce's exacting requirements.
Specific requirements:
- external plant
- process extraction
- central maintenance
