Sports Council for Glasgow - Three Sports Facilities
The Sports Council for Glasgow (SCG) is a voluntary agency that acts as the voice for sports clubs in Glasgow and provides a range of services. It's also a member of the Scottish Association of Local Sports Councils (SALSC) where it represents Glasgow at national level.
The SCG is primarily funded by Glasgow City Council through GlasgowLife, the organisation responsible for managing sports facilities and delivering sports development in Glasgow on behalf of Glasgow City Council.
The brief
Jet Environmental was commissioned to provide the HVAC system for three sports facilities in Glasgow funded by the SCG. These were:
- indoor bowls area
- badminton courts
- sports hall
The solution
Sports halls require high levels of ventilation. However, there were added challenges with the badminton courts where even very small air movements in the wrong places could impact on shuttlecocks.
We developed a ductwork distribution system which distributed air around and between the perimeters of the badminton courts. This provided the air volumes required at sufficiently low velocity in the highly sensitive playing areas.
Specific requirements:
- high ventilation rates
- close control of air distribution
